[Perched on a swing at the playground, Rapunzel is about as forlorn as a girl can get. She has spent the day trying not to think of her mother ( Read more... )

[As Rapunzel is swinging on that swing, Yui will be over here admiring her rather long hair.]

I've never seen so much hair before...

Hmmm? My hair? You like it? [The sight of that admiration raises her spirits a little, but she has grown used to her hair being an anomaly in Luceti.]

It's amazing! How long did it take for you to grow your hair out this long? Was there a contest to see who had the longest hair?

[She totally thinks you'd win]

Almost eighteen years? They brought me here right before my eighteenth birthday, but the calendars are different here than in my world...and no. No contest. I don't know anyone with hair as long as mine.

[She would so totally win.]

What's your name?

Really? Ah, that's amazing determination you have to keep it growing for that long! [She smiles.]

My name is Yui Kounagi. And you?

Rapunzel. [Amazing how being sad on a swing in Luceti can bring about friendly faces.] What is the longest your hair has been?

[At least this topic is more cheerful than her problems.]

[From the fairytale? o.o] It's nice to meet you, Rapunzel. And...hm I think this is as long as I've had it. I haven't been able to get it trimmed since I came here.

[She usually keeps her hair up, but she can have it down for a moment. It just goes over her shoulder blades.]

Although...now that I think about it, I don't think this place has a salon where you can get your hair cut.

[Yes, from a version of the fairytale. BE AFRAID.

This talk of getting your hair cut is ALARMING, by the way. Rapunzel draws back slightly, though she is still trying to seem more cheerful than she really feels.]

Your hair looks nice that way--maybe it's a good thing that there's no place that...that cuts hair here. I never want my hair cut. Never. Never ever.

[Afraid? But that's AWESOME. Then again, Yui is easily impressed.]

Ah, you don't have to, but it must be a lot of work to keep that hair looking nice.

Oh, the brushing? I don't mind it! It keeps me busy. Once in the morning, once at midday, and once before bed.

[Hours and hours of labor.]

O-Oh? [Okay, that's serious dedication.]

How long does it usually take for you to brush all of your hair just once?

No more than two hours. Three if I slept on it wrong the night before, but I'm usually pretty careful about that.

Wow...And when you do it three times a day, that doesn't give you a lot of time to do other things. You're okay with that?

Are you kidding? There's PLENTY of time for other things! I spend all DAY Doing Things! Reading the books, ventriloquy, baking, cooking, practicing my guitar, cleaning, pottery, painting, games, puzzles, darts--you name it!

[Except after a while it all gets old. But she is not ready to admit that.]

[And this all sounds like this woman can do anything and even--]

You've done ventriloquy!? I would love to see a performance from you and maybe learn something from it

How about right now? [And out of the lumpy sack by her feet she produces this.]

I haven't named him yet. He's for Flynn!
