At least it's something...

I decided there have been a couple things of note lately so I should post. It is funny how seldom one considers anything in their life to be "of note".

A bit over a week ago (September 7th to be exact) Darry had his first partial knee replacement. This was the left one, which was the worse of the two. His recovery is coming along pretty well I think. He's gone from a walker to a cane and the incision is looking good. Though with all those staples down a five or six inch incision, it does look a little like he has a zipper down his knee. He gets his other knee replaced October 26th. I expect he'll be good and healed by then. But that does mean I will have to take him out deer hunting since he won't be able to drive for quite awhile. I told him I just DO NOT want to see the kill. I've come to terms with hunting since I'm not a vegetarian and we do use all the meat. I have no weird illusions about where meat comes from, but I also have no wish to watch a slaughter.

The other thing is that my Remicade treatments are no longer lasting the full 8 weeks. Last week I started feeling poorly and it got worse every day. I had a treatment 2 days ago and I think it's going to take awhile to get all the way back to feeling good. I really would like to have some energy again. And the digestive problems are a huge pain...sometimes literally. My next treatment will be at the 7 week mark. Dr. Song said I may even have to go to every 6 weeks and there is still the option of increasing the dose.

A week from tomorrow we have a wedding to attend. Darry's second cousin, Holly, is getting married. We'll see how long Darry lasts at it or if he can even go, for that matter. He should be able to at least go to the ceremony by then, but he may not be up to staying long after that. Then on October 9th I plan to be in Minnesota for my niece's baby shower. Darry should be doing well enough to get along on his own by then.

Generally life is pretty good. Maybe I'm just learning how to see the glass as half full.
