I am horrible. Just what I needed to do this semester - get addicted to another book series. And I really do mean addicted, it almost frightens me how much I love these books. I don't even know why I like them as much as I do, theres nothing particularly special about them - the writing isn't brilliant and the story lags considerably at times. Its probably the characters and how insanely real their love feels.
Anyway, the books are Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. The back of Twilight reads thus:
About three things I was absolutely positive.
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
Well because I have a thing for vampire books (especially romantic ones) I decided to buy the book. This was Monday night. I stayed up late both Tuesday and Wendesday nights to finish reading it (and I was sick then too, which makes me more pathetic for reading instead of sleeping) Then yesterday morning I realized that the sequel was out (they didn't have it when I bought Twilight) and ran out to the store to buy it - and ended up going to four differnet book stores in town to find it. I then prceded to read the entire thing yesterday (and its actually pretty rare for me to read a whole book in one day - these books aren't terribly long, but they're not short either) Then I spent a good chuck of today milling about the Twilight fandom, and I have a feeling I'll be staying there for a while ^^
I was planning on writing up what I liked and didn't like about the two books (because there is A LOT I didn't like about New Moon - over all I love how it worked out, but just sitting reading through 400 pages of stuff I really didn't care about and didn't like to get to the stuff that I loved and made the whole book great kinda sucked). But anyway, I don't particularly feel like it becaue I doubt any of you have read it so you probably don't care too much.
I feel kind of ridiculous for being 19 and still being so addicted to a YA book (ok and then theres my thing with Harry Potter too lol)
Anyway, if and you you guys like vampire romances, read the books - they're great.
Also, One of my other favorite vampire books is Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde. This story takes place in Rochester New York. I find that immensely amusing as thats where I'm from and its such a little place. But then I was reading some character bios from Twilight - and one of the vampires in the Cullen clan is originally from Rochester NY. How freaking weird is that? Two of my fav vampire books have characters from the little town I'm from. Odd.
On a separate note - I finally broke down and bought more icon space, so now I have many pretties xD
