hankyung stood in the doorway with one foot inside and one foot anchored outside. he'd been standing like this for what seemed like hours but he still couldn't get himself to move forward. he stared in hurt copper eyes and waited for heechul to toss his raven coloured hair back and storm off on him.
waiting seemed to take an eternity. it wasn't until heechul scoffed and shoved him back that he finally felt that sense of freedom. he almost gave the hint of a smile as he wheeled around and walked back the other way--far away from everything he'd never known and back to the comfort of his home.
he fell asleep at night and tried to pretend that the defeated slump in heechul's shoulders was of relief. he tried to tell himself that fancams were a lie, that heechul didn't cry because of his name appearing in front of him at that concert. those tears weren't for him, they never were. those copper eyes were like steel--they had no feelings.
he tried to tell himself a lie which he knew was a lie everyday. sometimes he'd pour over english vocabulary and try to pretend that he didn't hear heechul's voice in his mind. heechul had always known more english than him, every night he caught himself wishing that he could share his new knowledge with him now.
han geng, who had always put others before himself, faced a new doorway with a broken heart but a full future.
