So today, (Sunday). In a weird mood, almost sick but not sick. just not 100%.
One of my patients, this 89 year old lady named Dorothy gets free tickets all the time to all kinds of shows around NYC. She offers me tickets once in a while. So Friday she offered me a ticket to see an opera at the Amato Theatre on the Bowery, near Bleecker Street. I wasn't going to go but at the last minute I decided to go because she may stop offering me tickets if I don't take her up on it. The Amato Theatre is very olde New York! A tiny place, very well kept up and very cute. It couldn't have been wider than about 30 feet across and probably ten rows of seats! The opera was written by Mozart called Cosi Fan Tutte (All Women and Like That). It was about two sisters who were engaged to two friends. The third friend was a very cynical man who thought that all woman are the same and that none of them are true. he wanted to prove it to his two friends so they made a bet. He had 24 hours to prove that the two sisters would cheat if given the chance. What he did was to lie to the two sisters and tell them that the two boyfriends were suddenly drafted and had to go off to war today! The two boyfriends were in on it! Then they got dressed up as two strangers and tried to woo the two women into flirting! It was very funny and very well done. But opera is not my favorite and I wasn't feeling too well, as I said, so I left early before it was finished. Still worth the experience and maybe next time will be better. At least got out of the house today and did something different from usual.
