well i just had a disappointing experience at True Pilates NY. I was looking forward all week to this, too. first of all i get there- they have the wrong time down for my appointment. What i wrote down during my conversation with Tom was 12:00., they had down 1:00. no big deal. i shopped on 57th street for an hour. went into bergdorff's, went into tiffanys, went into tourneau. went back. second of all, or first of all over again, the place itself. it's an ugly, sweaty place, they want to stay true to Pilates the way joseph pilates had it, but really, pick up the old brown ugly rug off the floor and replace it with a nice wooden floor. you're the so-called "best pilates" place ever. put on a good front. appearance counts. the receptionist was FAT. relly. i mean FAT. this is a health and fitness place. The original and true and authentic Pilates and you have a fat receptionist??? the equipment. again in an effort to keep it the original way they have the old old old equipment that joseph pilates had. paint the fucking walls people. get some nice furniture. they had this couch you had to sit on...brown cover, modular type thing, old, ugly, cheap. then my instructor, nancy. what can i say about her? she can't teach. she had too many complicated verbal instructions, too much far far far too much hands on tactile cueing. don't give me a paragraph explaining how to do it. just say something simple like scoop up your abs. don't take my body and contort it into a C curve yourself. don't hover over me. and don't put your entire body on top of mine. i can do it. just let me figure it out. and quit drinking coffee. i don't need your coffee breath in my face. the entire experience was disappointing. i was paying only half price as an introductory lesson so i didn't want to complain but still $50 is $50.i left feeling the exact same way as when i went in. i didn't feel like i just had a workout. that was because nancy did the exercises for me with her hands all over my body! i didn't have to do them at all! the last thing nancy said to me was "fly away." right. she totally didn't get it. i'll never go back there. i won't recommend that place to anyone. and if i do pilates training to become a certified instructor, it won't be there.
