Well, this weekend was White Hart. I enjoyed myself, but only part of my goals were met.

I did authorize in fencing and heavy fighting, so I'm officially able to fence with a single light rapier or sword and board in heavy fighting. Unfortunately, the fencing tourney and the heavy tourney overlapped, so I had to pick between them. I opted for heavy. I'm really glad I did. There were some good fencers, but it didn't look like I would have had as much fun, although I probably would have done better.

The tourney was a round robin, so I got to fight everybody. I think there were around 8 or 10 fighters; I didn't do a real count. In the actual tourney, I didn't do too well. Out of those fights, about four of them ended with me getting one shotted in a way I should have seen coming and been able to block. At least one of them was a questionable shot, but I'd rather take a shot I didn't have to than not take one that's on the border. Once I figure out calibration a little better, I should have a more definite line of what is good or not. In the meantime, I think it's in my best interest to take what I'm not sure about. Anyway, being chumped like that was getting pretty frustrating, especially since I knew what I was doing wrong and it was pretty basic stuff. I did have some good fights, though. My first fight was against a knight of, I think, the Middle. While he beat me, I did have a pretty decent fight. I had another fight that was decent that had to be refought due to a simultaneous kill. I thought my shot was late, but he wanted to take it anyway, which was nice of him. He beat me in the redo, but he had to work for it, so I'm proud of that. One situation that happened there was that we were both legged, practically on top of each other, with our shields pressing into each other's sword arms. I had the reach I could still get a stab or two in with that, but it didn't have enough force on it. I did get a good kill in during the tournament, so it wasn't a complete shutout in that respect. I was legged and before my opponent could do the honorable thing of dropping down as well, I thrust over his shield and stabbed him right in the neck. It was a good fight. Outside of the actual tourney, there was some sparring, including with the knight who ended up winning and a gentleman who wasn't fighting in the tournament. I did well with both of those, beating the gentleman who wasn't fighting two out of three, and the knight four out of five. He was using a halberd without a buttspike and I was sword and board. I just ran the pole and beat on him.

One thing I really liked was that after feast, I headed to the kitchen to start washing dishes. The autocrat had paid my way in and in repayment, I helped out anyway I could. Plus the people at my table were really annoying me and that was a good way to get out of it. Anyway, as I was washing dishes, the other people who came in to help were all knights and squires, including the guy who won the tourney. I liked seeing that they were nice enough guys to help out in that way. Of course, they gave me some shit, but I dished it right back out. I figure come Blackstone, I might get picked to take a few lumps, but it's all in good fun. :)

Feast was great. The high point for me were these spiced peaches. I got the leftovers and this morning? They were a pancake topping. Oh my god, it was delicious.

I was asked to join a local household. Gunnar's going to email me more about it before I make my decision, but it was nice that they thought enough of me to ask, so that's cool. I'm not sure if I'll join it or not, but we'll see.

I'm going to take out Hawkeye before his squeaky ball throws me into a seizure.
