another busy bee day

Finished painting the boy's room and put it all back together. I am pleased as pleased could be with the tan walls, less than thrilled with how the red walls turned out. Mostly, I blame the paint. I've painted red before with great results. It does have to be 'built up' to get the desired color--the first coat always looks hot pink--but before it's always begun to even out with the second coat, and looks lovely, rich and smooth by the third coat.

This red never evened out.

Six coats later--I bought an extra quart at Lowes and feel as if I just threw good money after bad--it is streaky, uneven, just plain amateurish. But I'm finished, for now. I need to get some professional advice, I think. Don't know if another couple of coats of a better brand would help, or if I need to prime and start fresh. Anyway, it's a job for another day. Heck, it's a job for another year! ;)

The main thing is, Robert is happy with how his room is turning out. We rearranged the furniture tonight at his request. I hate it... All crammed against one wall. But again, I'm finished. It's his room; he can have it his way. At some point down the road we'll have a talk about balance and proportion and all that good stuff that I still don't know how to do properly (though I do know not to line up every piece of furniture against one wall).

In the meantime, I am happy as a mule in briar because I found screencaps of 'Into the Wild' on the internet. Thanks to whoever posted them, I now have icons of Brian Dierker... The non-actor who played the role of 'Rainey'. Since he only has this one movie to his credit, I knew he would be next-to-impossible to find pictures of unless some kind soul posted screencaps. But he is the perfect PB for one of my online RPG characters! (PB--'played by', aka who or whatever one uses in icons to represent one's character.) So happy happy joy joy in pretendy-funtime games land!

Bob and the girls are off camping, so Robert and I ordered pizza for dinner. We are without a car; what else could we do? Fix something from our supply of groceries? Perish the thought!
