A little trickle long enough can surely cause the flood…

The sun poured through the window and I squeezed my eyes closed tightly, pulling the covers up and turning away from the light; sighing softly as the darkness of the blanket surrounded me again.

Moment’s later I heard purring against my ear, a warm weight against my cheek was a sign that Miss Kitty was up and soon would be crying out for food. “Ok…” I croaked out hoarsely before clearing my throat and hoping the taste that something died in my mouth would go away.

That was always a side effect from the Dogwood, aside from strange dreams and a headache. I just had to hope that it would go away long enough for me to take my test this afternoon.

Sighing softly I pulled the blanket down and looked up at Miss Kitty, reaching up to scratch behind her ears. “I’m getting up.” I whispered, feeling her lick my face before curling up and closing her eyes again. I lay in the bed and looked up at the ceiling trying to gather my thoughts together.

I don’t think I had ever had a more unrestful night’s sleep taking the Dogwood then I did the night before. I couldn’t put my finger on anything that I dreamt but all I knew was that it made me wake up exhausted and not all that rested. I also figured that I slept wrong because everything felt sore.

Turning my head I sighed and threw the cover’s off of me. I had to hurry and get dressed for my class or I’d never get there on time. I just wanted this test done with so I can enjoy the few day’s off that I have. The dorms were empty and the idea of doing my laundry without being bothered still made me smile.

It took a bit of effort for me to move quicker then my body wanted me to, but I managed to get to my class on time, thankfully with enough time to spare to get a cup of tea outside the building.

Thankfully I only had the one class today, I couldn’t wait to finish my test and then head back to the dorm and shower the tension out of my muscles.

Class ran longer then I expected, but I think I finished with a respectable grade. I hoped so because the idea of retaking this class made my stomach turn. Instead of heading right back to the dorm after class, I headed to the store then the bank. Getting a few things out of the way I headed back to the dorm to do some reading before heading in the shower.

I gasped as the hot water from the shower hit my body, pelting my skin as the warmth washed over me. I turned away from the spray and let it run over my back, gasping and whimpering softly at how sore everything felt.

“I just need to relax.” I murmured to myself, cracking my neck and lifting my hair to let the water beat down on my skin. My fingers ran over a few small marks on my neck that were sensitive to the touch; I didn’t remember getting them and it seemed like the logical explanation was that Miss Kitty needs to get her nails clipped again since she seemingly likes to kneed my neck and shoulder when she sleeps with me.

Sighing softly, I tilted my head back under the water and started to wash my hair, pressing my fingers against my scalp in hopes that the small migraine that I felt coming on would pass. It’s nearly dinner time so maybe I should order something for dinner instead of going out into town.

After rinsing my hair and washing myself, I turned the water off and stepped out of the shower. I wrapped myself up in a robe and placed a towel over my hair before padding down the deserted hallway towards my room.

I blinked in the dim hall light when I saw a figure leaning up against the door frame; I didn’t have to see clearly to know who it was, his scent flowed down the hall and I knew who it was.

He turned and looked at me, my mouth going dry and after a moment I finally was able to speak softly. “S-Spike…”
