Arastradero 9-27-08: DeAnza Trail and Arastradero Creek Trail to Foothills Park

On an unexpectedly hot and still Sunday, D. and I returned to Arastradero Nature Preserve. We walked the DeAnza Trail and the Arastradero Creek Trail all the way through the preserve to neighboring Foothills Park. Here's some of the pics I took.

The DeAnza trail.

Wild rose blossom at the edge of Arastradero Creek.

Wild rose hips.

Snowberries.

Lone oak on the DeAnza Trail hillside.

Quail feed in the shade on the trail by Arastradero Lake.

Dry hillside, Arastradero Creek Trail.

A little tiny lizard with a stumpy tail.

Fuzzy seedheads.

More dry hillside, Arastradero Creek Trail.

More fuzzy seedheads.

Some of the few frogs still left in shrinking Sobey Pond.

The poison oak is turning red already.

Shadows and light in the forest next to the trail.

A rustic section of the trail on our way back.
