{voice}

... A new year indeed, Discedo. [said very flatly; there isn't an iota of emotion in there, it'd be pretty impressive if not for... you know]

[from there his voice changes to a brisker tone as though nothing's amiss, though he sounds just the faintest bit distracted if you know him well enough] "Green" seems to be the theme this time. I have a fair amount of light and floorspace to spare, which I will offer to any who would rather be rid of their Christmas sapling.

As for those whose trees have borne fruit, a question: what do the seeds look like?

[an abrupt contemplative silence]

I assume the odd news broadcast was also a citywide phenomenon -- is there anyone who can give me more details about the previous instances of this?

{video}

[A brief shot of what seems to be the silhouette of a plant rooted in the floor -- but if you're sharp and fast on the uptake, you'll realize that the entire plant is completely colorless, shaded in black, white and gray, with sinuous branches that look kind of like the scarf on this thing with more ends.

No two leaves are alike in shape, and there seem to be no fruits or even pods on it, though if you weren't looking directly at the transmission a number of things will keep catching the corner of your eye that aren't a branch or the main trunk of the tree. Moreover, if anyone's keeping count of the branches, no two counts will come out the same. Make of that what you will, if you're bored enough to notice these things.]

[it's left unclear whether the switch to video was intentional, since the transmission ends there]

In with the old, and on with the new? Over half of us are now in the city, and the motives behind such a congregation still unclear. Though, considering what New Year's Eve managed to drag in, pure and simple mockery is not too far out of the realm of possibility.

Of course that is not an unbiased opinion. How contrary.

The girl -- Q -- has not given up all her secrets. There are details in what she has said and done that are bothersome. There must be some connection. This, too, is a biased opinion. At this point, it is difficult to parse what is distraction, what is necessity, and what is opportunity. There are simply too many variables and far too few known quantities.

Christmas, at least, seems to have been content to be interesting without contingencies. The attacks and the murders (it may be presumptuous to say they are connected, but let us continue to be biased for the moment) are indeed troubling, but not quite systematic enough to be worth the ruckus; the perpetrator seems to have been satisfied with picking off the young and weak, for the most part. Nevertheless, the incidents should not be dismissed out of hand. (Fortunately, it seems there is already ample interest and efforts gathering in the city.)

The broadcast itself may be the most unsettling of recent events. We are being monitored; that much goes without saying. Still, the extent to which they detailed our encounter in the forest... and their information about the monsters, and most particularly the way the transmission was cut -- I will look into this further. It brings to mind that long-ago talk of dead ends, which was not really so long ago. Time passes strangely here. But with the appearance of Q... I really should stop with this jumping to conclusions.

One month and one half, and I am no closer to any answers of use, though there are other elements beginning to move.

How will you fare, Xehanort?

[OOC: Hiatus was slightly extended due to holiday crazies, but I'm back and catching up as best I can. Zexion's been slightly quiet himself, mostly due to Pork Plot, and Unexpected Christmas Presents (TM) and the hassle of returning the favor. It's the polite thing to do, after all!

That being said, all gifts will be delivered to the respective building lobby with the recipient's name written in neat printed script unless he explicitly knows where you live.

Patchouli -- A handwritten volume of folk tales from Radiant Garden, though the origin isn't explicitly stated
Xion -- Two cans of chicken noodle soup
Luke T. -- A tiny bell that may fit onto a cat's collar
Naja -- A couple of handwritten sheets of Christmas music
Chopper -- A small set of colored pens, and a few sheets of paper with Merry Christmas written on the top sheet in flowing cursive
Yorda -- A handwritten, basic guide to caring for various plants, with some odd tips in the margins]
