na-na, nananana-na-na....

There are few things that make me happier than seeing Fun. Getting to be at the front of the line for signing and having a chance to tell Nate that julie and I've been going to his concerts since I was a freshman in college and now we're about to graduate from grad school was amazing. Getting to tell Jack that I loved his tumblr  where he spends a lot of time responding to people's questions about gay rights and religious beliefs in a calm, well-thought out manner was also amazing. They all signed our communal journal (Tina - you're getting all the awesome signature in your journal! *jealous*) and Nate declared they should do a journal too. I fully support this. I bet it would be truly random, based on the things they talk about between songs. I love that Nate thought sharing a story about acne and washing his face was TMI. When we saw them at the Clubhouse, he talked about how he had pink-eye and he was worried he was going to squirt the audience. Oh Nate. I love the look on his face when he gets the audience to sing entire verses of songs - and do back up vocals as well. I wish the zia people had let me stay with Julie in the store, but they made me and jan wait in line so i ended up further back. But it was still lovely and I stuck by Julie for the signing line. The two people in front of us were lovely as well - they had SPENT THE NIGHT, which was impressive and were really nice. Julie said they danced together when they played The Gambler - i wish i was close enough to see that, but oh well. I'll see them again in march for a proper concert and then I imagine it'll be a while before I get my fun. fix again.

Nate tends to look you directly in the eyes when talking to you - It's amazing (have i used that word too much? oh well) and a bit disconcerting and hard to explain till you've been on the receiving end. Here he's doing it to the lovely people in front of us:

i wish I'd thought to bring my proper camera...but as I had negative time to get ready this morning...yeah. Anyway. Awesome night, fantastic show. I love this band.
