Today was my first day at the new job and it was great! There was some drama regarding the girl I was replacing and the way in which things occurred (namely: my direct supervisor wasn't allowed in on my interview, which you could imagine kind of pissed her off a bit). No one knew I was replacing her today so everyone kept asking where the girl was and I had to be the bearer of bad news. Meh. Kinda sucky, but if that is the only bad part of the job, I think I can handle it.
Anyway, meet my new employer (well, kinda):
http://allergan.com I work for Adecco, but I'm onsite at Allergan. The place is HUGE and awesome. It's a multi-billion dollar company and it shows. Not only is it huge-mungous, but everything is just really nice. Gorgeous everything, you know? I'm talking a full service cafeteria, an onsite "concierge" who will pick up your dry cleaning or order flowers for you for free, and plasma TVs along the hallway walls. Gah...such a nice place to work! It's pretty crazy that I'm working for the makers of breast implants and Botox and Refresh Tears and all....so crazy! I was all..."ummm...employee discount anyone?"
My job is very similar to what I was doing before. I do new employee orientations/paperwork, tours, scheduling interviews and escorting people through security to get to their interview, and eventually I will get to do my own recruiting. They want to start me off slow so I can learn the corporate culture and feel comfortable with Allergan's procedures and such. Not overwhelming at all! OH, and my title is "Adecco Onsite Supervisor"...yeah, cool huh?
Anyway, I'm excited about the new job (and especially the new job's paycheck!) and Andrew got a raise at his recent review, so we celebrated last night. I got two more suits and we had a nice dinner, then got home and had some of our wedding champagne! It was nice, and (I think) well-deserved. Anyway, the cash flow should help us save up for NYC within a year! Yay. Andrew's been working really hard with all of the freelance stuff, too (he's got a client tonight and tomorrow), plus he had a bad dentist appointment yesterday (2 fillings on Friday..blah), so I stopped at a famous OC cupcake bakery and got him one of the very best/yummiest cupcakes I've ever had. I'll surprise him with it when he comes home! Sneaky wife yet again!
Well, that's the news from the newly employed.
