Time has flown like a metal clock out of a window and now summer is at a close.
My initial comment would be that this summer had been unremarkable. However, it was anything but. I began to learn guitar and piano. Heather and I saw two concerts: Hammer Fall and Pearl Jam. I had numerous photo phun days. Aki and I hiked the Grouse Grind twice. The second time up we had a remarkably better time. We will see if the third can be even better.
I have volunteered at the Royal Columbian Hospital in the ER for 4 months. In October, I am looking into visiting with patients in different wards of the hospital. Before I commit though I have to make sure I can cope with less free time especially considering I will be taking a 3 hour marketing class every Thursday evening starting in mid September. In late July, I went to give blood. But after standing around for 40 minutes they said there wasn't enough time left. "Please, please donate. We need blood... just not yours, right now." I'm not discouraged; I shall make it yet.
In August, I dressed up as a rotting zombie and joined over 300 corpses on a Zombie Walk. We lumbered from the Vancouver Art Gallery, past two anti-war rallies, through Pacific Mall (to the shopkeepers horror), down to the Granville St. SkyTrain station, on the train to Main St., up Main St., past two weddings and one shocked congregation of Phillipino 7th Day Adventists, along some side roads and to our final resting place, a cemetary.
As dull as my job is at Roland most days, they managed to keep me busy throughout most of the summer. I spent one week working in the parts department, essentially doing a whole new job within the company. If only they'd paid me more for it... Three weeks I worked solo as my comrade in customer service was on vacation. I found the added responsibility and automony to my liking. Now I have one week paid vacation. I will have to train my body to sleep in and relax on weekdays again.
