In honor of David Carradine (rip), during the weekend I re-watched - again - the whole "Kill Bill" saga and...OMG my love for those movies - especially the first - knows no bounds ( Read more... )

KIll Bill is so over-the-top-kitsch-splatter-comic-book-style that it doesn't feel real, most of the time it's actually quite funny.

well, to be honest, i've never really sat down and tried to watch it all the way through. though i really should. i mean, it's one of those movies you should at least be able to say you've seen, whether or not you end up liking it.

but so far, i've only seen bits when it was playing on tv and stuff. so maybe if i actually sat down and watched it, i'd have the same reaction. (or, worst case scenario, i could always just look away during the really bloody bits. :P)

i have to admit, i do know what you mean, though. don't know if you're familiar with adult swim at all, but there's a show on there -- metalocalypse* -- that i've been really into lately. which kinda features a lot of death-and-injury based slapstick.** it's not exactly my favorite part of the show -- but sometimes it really is more funny than squicky.

and thank you!

you are quite welcome. :)
i think good icon makers always deserve to be told their work is appreciated.

The only thing I can't stand is when people either modify the icons (without asking permission) or claim them as theirs.

yeah... i think that's actually why i myself am a little touchy about uncredited use. because -- especially when some icons are credited, but others are not -- it inadvertently implies that the user is the maker. but i know some people just don't realize this; which is probably why it's no big deal to them not to credit.

has someone actually done that to you on purpose, though? i mean, you'd have have to be some major kind of butthole to all-out claim someone else's work as your own.

...anyway, i'm done rambling now. hope i haven't talked your ear off. >_>

* actually, for someone who is clearly a slash fan, i would highly recommend it. i mean, it's kinda cracky... but there are just so many boysex jokes (not to mention, canon slashy bits) in there, i can't even tell you.

** not quite as pretty and stylized as kill bill; but you could definitely call it intentionally over-the-top

Yes, definitely. :-)

I just googled it and it looks pretty good! I can only stand violence/gore/blood when it's over-the-top and unrealistic (ergo, kinda funny), I can't stand realistic stuff...:|

Yep, it happened to me more than once...to be honest I felt more pity/contempt for the people who did it than actual rage...what's the point of posting and getting praise for something you didn't do? *ponders*
