I actually can't wait for Carey's next book in that universe!! I'll definitely miss Phedre and Joscelin, but hopefully I'll find new characters to fall in love with.
I'm so torn over the new series! I absolutely fell in love with the original characters (especially Phedre and Joscelin), so the thought of them not being in the new series directly (I'm assuming we'll get snippets from "history" books/stories) is heart wretching, but then again, Carey is such an amazing writer that I can't NOT pick up the new one. I know I'll probably still enjoy it, but I'll miss them so much :/
The Wraeththu books are amazing, but harder to get into, I think. Lots of gender identification stuff going on, which I found fascinating. What's also really cool is that she wrote the first trilogy during the beginning of her career and the second trilogy almost 2 decades later. The first trilogy was a little hard to get into, but was interesting enough to keep me reading, and then the second trilogy really highlights what she learned. That might turn some people off, but I thought it was cool to see how the author grew :)
