So, I went to Toronto to visit Scott's mom. We had a good time, and it was actually rather eventful, so I thought I would share my stories with everyone.
I packed everything that I needed on Wednesday. Scott came and picked me up from home in the early afternoon. We went to Halifax, picked up one of his friends and her dog and took the dogs swimming, it took at least an hour to get the dogs in the water, it was rather funny. Scott's dog is only 9 months old, so this is her first summer. She whined the whole time because she was scared of the water, but once she got started swimming she didn't want to stop. Then we went to Bayers Lake for supper at Jack Astor's, I had a craving for fajitas. Then we went bowling, because on Monday's and Wednesday's they have all you can bowl for $6 from 9-12. But when we got there we found out that in the summer all you can bowl only goes until 11, and we got there at 10:30. We got to play one string and they only charged us for one string instead of the all you can bowl which was nice. Then Scott and I went to Truro, that's where he lives, and he packed and I went to sleep.
On Thursday we left for Toronto, ready to drive until we got there, only stopping for gas and pee breaks. It was going great, the dog was really well behaved, she slept most of the way and everywhere that we stopped she got out and did her thing, but listened to us the whole time. At like 8:30pm we stopped at the border between New Brunswick and Quebec for gas, and when we were heading out, I tried to stop before the exit to the gas station, and there were no brakes. So, we stopped the car, spent probably half an hour trying to figure out what was wrong with the brakes. Then we decided we were going to just sleep in the car at the gas station, but it was too hot to have the windows up, and if we rolled them down at all, even for a second, the whole car was filled with mosquitos. So, we went into the gas station and tried to explain to the lady working there what our problem was, however, she didnt know what car, trouble or tow truck meant. Makes it very difficult to communicate. But, she got it eventually, she called us a cab which drove us to a motel for the night, then the next morning we called a tow truck and they towed the car to Edmunston. I had to wait in Quebec at the motel with the dog for at least 4 hours. But then we got on the road again just after lunch and made it to his mom's place by 2am.
On Saturday we went shopping, I wanted to find a skirt and a new pair of shorts, but I didn't find anything. Then Scott's mom took us to the Blue Man Group show, it was so awesome! We had left the dog at his mom's place alone, because she had been so well behaved, we were pretty sure she wouldn't get into much trouble. When we got back, there was a lovely pile of the remains of three pairs of sandals, all mine, and all the sandals I had brought with me. So, I had to either buy new sandals or wear sneakers for the rest of the trip. She also chewed up one of my razors. That was scary, but she was okay. I went to Zellers on Sunday to get some new sandals, got 2 pairs for under $13, so I was pretty happy. We watched two movies with his mom, Running Scared and The Hills Have Eyes, both very good movies, although I'd never watch The Hills Have Eyes again, it was really gory and disturbing. On Monday we went to Toronto Island, it was really nice, the dog ALMOST went for a swim. I got bit by a red ant. I had never been bit by one before, and I hope I never get bit by one ever again, it hurt like crazy. Then we watched another movie, 16 Blocks. It was pretty good, rather slow though, I don't think I'd watch it again.
And then, we came back, the trip home was rather uneventful, and here I am!
