GW commissioned art: Steampunk

sunhawk16 commissioned me to celebrate RayGunWorks' anniversary. Here we have Heero and Duo in Steampunk gear atop a cliff. What are these two up to, I wonder. I also included work-in-progress pics. I don't usually take step by step pictures of my progress, but this time I have enough to show a bit of the process. Thank you for viewing and enjoy!

Those are both gorgeous! I was picturing the steampunk one as a kind of prelude to Journey To The Center of The Earth type story. That or a search for a lost civilization of some kind.

I bet that Heero has the leather bound journal of a famous explorer and eccentric in one of the pockets of his coat.

He had come across it by accident. Cracked leather and swollen pages crushed under an out of date encyclopedia in a bin full of old books for sale, for any amount. The new librarian had been instructed to empty some shelves to make room for new inventory. It was the golden gilded edges of its pages that got Heero to pick it up. It was the smile of the new librarian, "Call me Duo, I'll be over there if you need anything", that got him to stick around long enough to open the book and look through it.

I like it! Though, I was envisioning something more like

Oooooh! I love it. Now it's not just aimless wandering but there's something at stake and oh the things that can happen during this adventure. *0* Such possibilities! And Heero? What are his motives for going along with Duo in this rescue mission? Is it really as simple as lending his help to rescue Howard?

Heero stared at the watch in his hand as a long held promise surfaced in his mind. They had little time to waste as it is. Still, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and remembered.

Oh, man that is perfect!

It was his job, his life's mission to protect his people from discovery. Howard had been getting too close! Fortunately, no one else believed him, that made Heero's task so much easier. That was until Howard went missing. Now his nephew was determined to find him and bring him back.

Heero liked Howard, appreciated the old man's sharp mind and reasoning skills. Under other conditions he would have considered him a friend. Did consider him a friend or as much as Heero could allow him to be. He hoped that Howard wasn't hurt or dead, just lost. He feared that Howard had actually stumbled onto the way to the lost city and was being held there. That's why he'd agreed to help Duo.

That's not the only reason his heart whispered to him, but he shook it off, frowning. His personal feelings were irrelevant. What mattered was the well being of his people.

*gasp!* Yes! I was wondering how Heero became Howard's assistant. So he was there to make sure Howard didn't succeed? ButBut he is too good, that Howard! And now Duo. So will he mislead Duo too? How long can he do that, when he'll come to know soon how determined Duo was to find his uncle? And how will Duo react when he finds out why Heero was in their lives to begin with? /.\

Oh! Did Howard go alone? What if he was taken because he knew so much? If Heero's clan knew Howard was getting close...who else thought his knowledge could prove useful in finding the lost city?

So many questions that remain unanswered. I think I'm going to copy this whole thread into a document because I kind of want to write this fic now.

Right? They have a goal, which is to find Howard and a guide, the journal. But what will happen inbetween? Who will they meet? How will this unfold? XD

wahhhhhh~ somehow....I want to see what happens too. XD

I have everything in my google docs and I am playing with ideas. It's been a while since I've written something longer that is Heero and Duo focused.
