sunhawk16 commissioned me to celebrate RayGunWorks' anniversary. Here we have Heero and Duo in Steampunk gear atop a cliff. What are these two up to, I wonder. I also included work-in-progress pics. I don't usually take step by step pictures of my progress, but this time I have enough to show a bit of the process. Thank you for viewing and enjoy!

Duo patted his coat to make sure the journal was still there. He'd found it amongst his Uncle Howard's things when he was looking for a clue for where the eccentric explorer had disappeared to. He'd had been going on and on for years about a lost civilization that could be found in the middle of the Earth. Duo had always thought it was just a pipe dream - maybe even a delusion - harmless enough, but nothing would ever come of it. That was until Uncle Howard went off exploring one day and never came back.
Howard had been there for Duo and now it was time for Duo to return the favor. Thankfully he not only had the journal, but Howard's assistant, Heero Yuy, had agreed to go along on the quest. Duo had a feeling he was going to need all the help he could get if he was going to rescue Uncle Howard. It didn't hurt that Heero was amazing smart as well as being damn easy on the eyes.
Later, when Uncle Howard was home safely Duo might consider taking a gander at Heero, but right now he had an epic adventure to plan for.

Heero stared at the watch in his hand as a long held promise surfaced in his mind. They had little time to waste as it is. Still, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and remembered.

It was his job, his life's mission to protect his people from discovery. Howard had been getting too close! Fortunately, no one else believed him, that made Heero's task so much easier. That was until Howard went missing. Now his nephew was determined to find him and bring him back.
Heero liked Howard, appreciated the old man's sharp mind and reasoning skills. Under other conditions he would have considered him a friend. Did consider him a friend or as much as Heero could allow him to be. He hoped that Howard wasn't hurt or dead, just lost. He feared that Howard had actually stumbled onto the way to the lost city and was being held there. That's why he'd agreed to help Duo.
That's not the only reason his heart whispered to him, but he shook it off, frowning. His personal feelings were irrelevant. What mattered was the well being of his people.

Oh! Did Howard go alone? What if he was taken because he knew so much? If Heero's clan knew Howard was getting close...who else thought his knowledge could prove useful in finding the lost city?
