Week in review. I am, bit-by-bit, getting more settled into my new place in Hampden. I have a mattress there now. Clothes. Some food. Beer. DVDs. Yesterday I got a power strip for my only outlet. Now I can use my fan and charge my cell phone at the same time. It is such a small thing, but it makes a big difference.
Wednesday I had four job interview. Three in DC, one in Baltimore. The first two in DC were nothign special. The third one was great! It was for a paralegal position with the third largest lawfirm in the world! I am excited about that one! The fourth one was in Baltimore. Unexpected dealys made me very late for that interview. I parked in Barre Circle, and ran over to the interview. When I arrived at 500 W.Pratt, I checked my papers. The interveiw was at 500 East Pratt st! I was on the wrong side of town! Overall, I ran 15 city blocks, in a wool suit, in the hottest afternoon yet this year. Thankfully, the people were pretty understanding. I am also pretty excitied about the possibilities with this job.
Went to the Thursday O’s game with Erin and a few of her girlfriends. There was a rain delay, and the Orioles lost (I can not think of the last time I saw the O’s win.) Tampa Bay’s bats were all over the pitching. At least it wasn’t the comedy of errors that the game Erin and I saw earlier this year, against the Angels.
Spent Wednesday and Friday night at the Ottobar. I only seem to get there once every three or four months, so twice in one week in unusual. Wednesday was a ska show, featuring the return of the Ready Steady Go! I’m glad to see those guys back. Friday was the Karmella’s Game CD release show.
Avec opened, and in tribute, played their set in KG-style school uniforms! Shawna was amazingly hot, more so than usual. Avec’s ability to pantomime KG’s mannerisms only bolstered their already impressive stage presence.
Karmella’s Game opened with a backing strings section, then went on with their standard set. They brought their usual high level of energy to the stage, but not their uniform. Talking to KTO and Mandy, I am under the impression they have deep-sixed the uniforms permanently. As for the CD, The Art of Distraction is amazing. No real surprises; they have been playing most of the songs on the CD at gigs since 2003. But that is a good thing. They could have easily had a full length out by late 2004. Instead, they took their time, carefully selected, recorded, and mastered their songs. I hope the resulting CD gets them the attention they deserve.
Saturday I changed my oil, had dinner at the Annapolis Greek festival. Instead of going to the Ottobar a third time to see the Epoxies, I instead passed out and slept for 12 hours. I needed it. Exhaustiopn is painful, and take alot out of you. The rest was well needed.
Sunday was a kind of lazy day. I bought a new pair of pants. Moved some more stuff to Hampden. I did get a surprise call: KLB called me! I have not spoken to her in 18 months. Parts of the conversation were heartbreaking. We have a long history, mostly happy, but not without a lot of pain and regret. She is doing well. She has pain and regret, but she is still doing well. I only wish her the best.
