Max Brooks-Donovan
Since bizarra blew the dust off.. and Steve's been on a roll... might as well dive back in to my pool. :)
Max Brooks-Donovan spent most of his first five years living on a spaceship. He is quiet, adventurous, curious and is always ready with a big hug. He's also a bit of a 'miracle' baby, as he was the first child born, following a plague which devistated the population of his parents' homeworld (Celcia). He has, this past year, been living with his family, planetside, on Laethriel (his father's homeworld), where the surviors of Celcia settled.
Being the only child for so long, surrounded by adults, Max grew up quickly; but he's still just a kid and, in certain areas, he's a little behind the other kids his age, who make fun of him at school. He also doesn't really know how to deal with other kids, which adds to the troubles. His best friend is Taleah - she's about four years older than he is and deaf - who was adopted by the King and Queen of Laethriel when she was Max's age.
One of Max's favorite things, in all the universe, is airplanes - he got it from his father - and he can't quite master paper airplanes yet, though one would never notice, with all the paper airplanes hanging from his ceiling. He's also very good at video games, which he plays with Mel (Mommy El). Like most five-year-old's, Max is also learning how to nudge the line without crossing it, but, for the most part, he's a good kid.
He adores his brother (TJ) and sister (Leora, or LC) - except for when they cry - and is fascinated with the family's newest addition, a puppy named Tinny. He is very protective of his mother, Dree (Adora - it's a long story), and knows more about what's going on with her than even she does. Max also loves spending time with Doctor Chapel (Chapel Barnes, the ship's Chief Medical Officer) and Massey, Mel's second-in-command.
He's also trying to be the "man of the house", since his father died. Dealing with the loss has made Max quieter, and a bit less active, as well as clinging to his mothers a bit more than usual.
+ Favorite foods are peanut butter and lettuce sandwiches and pineapple whip.
+ Has a small, lost-most-of-his-stuffed rabbit named Rabbit.
+ Shares his birthday with Mel (October 28)
+ Speaks fluent sign-language.
+ Adpoted Isabelle Cain as his "Grama" because he didn't have one.
+ Is learning to play the harmonica.
+ Getting to know his grandfather, Max Senior (the whole family is taking baby steps).
+ Holds the rank of Ensign, although the Council doesn't offically recognize the commendation. When issued, he was seventeen days from turning three.
