A light at the end of the tunnel

It appears my days at Hathaway Publishing are drawing to a close. I've accepted a position with the New Bedford Standard-Times doing...something. It'll involve a lot of the internet. Don't tell them this, but I have no idea how the internet works. Look at my space on Myspace. It's really still their space, isn't it? Not very pimped at all. I seem to recall that the layout of this journal was simply picked from a list of templates. I've never used flash, written any CSS, PHP, ROTFL or SQL.

Still, I beat out other candidates and they have bought a gigantic computer for me to use. I'm already in day 4 of my "Learn HTML in 7 days book." We've just gotten to the bit about colored backgrounds. The book was written ten years ago. I'm also hoping to get a ten year old computer soon for home use. I've become nostalgic for computer technology, or I'm just out-dated at 24. (I'm rounding my age up, these days.)

How do we do it? Timing.

My only hope is that my old boss decides that he won't give my up for a few weeks, maybe even a month so I have time to learn a few things before I start. I do shudder at the thought of dealing with Hathaway's never-ending problems for that long, though. My old boss was in negotiations with my new boss over me today, I believe. These bosses have the same boss, so they have to play nice. What can I say? I'm living the corporate life.

And don't tell the S-T I said any of this. Or any of the other crap you almost certainly know about me.
