Memphis

So here's how my trip to Memphis for the 2008 GM Conference went. It's more than a little long, so I used a few LJ cuts.

Glad you had fun. I need a few days like that myself. It's been ridiculously busy at school. Thank goodness I have a bit lighter workload second semester and 2 more prep periods a week. Report cards are due in a couple of days so that will occupy most of my free time until they get done.

Time for a bath and then some sleep. Take care.

It was nice to have a few days away from Sac, but there was a lot of work in Memphis. And now, I've come back to a few doubles in a row, many reviews to do, and interviews to conduct. It's been a busy few days back.

Hope you got your report cards taken care of.

I'm fresh off of a 12-hour day, and I'm going to be writing up some employee reviews. The work never ends ...

I ended up with close to 14 hours yesterday and still didn't get all the marks done for the report cards. Too boot, I recorded the elementary marks incorrectly - we changed the format this year from the 4 previous years I have been here - so I had to redo them all. :-( I complained a lot about the changes because the way they are now tells parents virtually nothing on the strengths and weaknesses of their child, but simply gives an overall synopsis if their child is achieving at grade level, above grade level or below grade level. I would have to add a comment on every child for every subject, 108 in all, to inform the parents/guardians of something they used to be able to determine with the old-style report-cards.

Enough said, reports are in and the weekend is starting. Time to go home, grab a bite, a drink and then off to the rink to participate in a curling bonspiel. Hope you will have some down time yourself this weekend. Take care and stay cool.

Man, 14 hours ... rough. I could easily put in that many hours, but I'd just as soon take some of my work home with me and not spend the whole time in the restaurant.

Sounds like the changes to your grading system are a hassle. Don't you hate when they make backwards-stepping updates?

Time to run some errands before work. Take care.
