Work

I had a somewhat annoying night at work last night.

I had to serve a large party (12 people) of blind people. Well, most of them were blind, with a couple of people there to help them. My manager Chris had served them in the past when he was a server, and he said they were all nice people. They were in the restaurant for an incredibly long time, but I was enjoying serving them. That is, until they started asking me to do multiple simultaneous things (one woman in particular kept wandering the restaurant looking for me and asking me for things/telling me things that one of the guys in charge had already talked to me about). I brought them their checks when they asked for them, split up into three payments for 1) a business credit card that would be paying $200 of the bill, 2) a separate check for alcoholic drinks that anyone ordered, and 3) the remaining balance. Altogether, their bill was in the general area of $750. The one lady who had been wandering the restaurant asking for things started arguing with me about it, saying that they had ordered Big Nights Out for 6 people (which would be $51/each), rather than the 6 Big Nights Out that they ordered ($92 for two people). I got Chris and he talked to them, telling them that they had been there many times in the past and understand the ordering process, so their argument was basically invalid. They spent well over an hour (it was nearly midnight by this point) figuring out their payments, and they finally payed and left, but not before they made several comments on how they were never coming back. The funny thing is that they admitted fault saying, "It was a miscommunication on our part." It was just very long, tiresome, and annoying. I didn't end up getting home until close to 1am, where Alyssa and Diego were hanging out watching movies.

Melting Pot is closed today to celebrate our location's two-year anniversary (which was on the 15th). Most of us are going to a Rivercats' game at 7pm tonight (the restaurant is paying for us to go). That should be fun; I haven't been to a baseball game in a really long time. I'm not sure if we're playing poker or not tonight after the game, but I'd like to since I was out of town last week on Monday. I guess we'll see after the game.

That's all for now.
