Today's Imponderable

This will be my one and only comment on the brouhaha around the jackhole COO of Chik-Fil-A and his mouthbreathing horde of low-functioning fanboyz who think that Freedom of Speech protects them from being criticized for jackhole tendencies:

Why is it that whenever a corporate officer utters words like 'traditional biblical values', this invariably seems to be followed by utter jerkishness?

I have yet to hear of someone's CEO say something along the lines of "because we believe in wholesome popular sentiment and traditional values, all employees will be getting improved health coverage at lower cost". Or even "because Jesus loved the little children*, we're giving out free puppies and kittens next Bring Your Sprog To Work Day". (Now, I'm not saying this hasn't happened...but if it has, it didn't earn them nationwide coverage. Maybe this is a Fourth Estate issue, maybe not. I dunno.)

In any case, there aren't any of these goobers hereabouts, so I can't boycott them too effectively (which I'd do anyway--what I hear about their HR policies is...professionally disturbing). I prefer Ninja Burger in any event, with extra wasabi for all.

Equal and opposite jerkishness: I call Bad Form on certain mayors and assorted politicos trying to use the law to threaten the company's chances of expanding into their cities. Bad Form, guys. Don't do that.

* Yes, yes, I know. It's such a beautiful opening, isn't it? Go on, hit it...you know you want to...
