"For every stampede, there are more than a few parades."

A direct quote from my psych textbook. I am reading about social psychology and it's really interesting. Sometimes downright depressing like when you read about "reciprocal altruism," which is when people do nice things for other people with the expectation that their favors will be returned, so, not really altruism at all. But still not so bad I guess. Usually people are self-interested jerks. That's how it is. But the benefits of groups far outweigh the downsides. Hence the parades. Anyway it's all really interesting, but I've only read ten pages out of forty, and it's been an hour. Darn it. Also. My comparative lit essay is due on Wednesday. I haven't started writing it. I did outline it, which makes it a lot better, but it still seems like such a daunting task. Maybe it will go fine once I start, but starting it is so hard. I think I'm hanging out with Amber tomorrow so we can edit each other's papers. Or... finish them, more likely. Oh well. I have most of tomorrow to work on it as well.

So, aside from these two gigantic tasks in front of me, which I need to buckle down and do, I'm going to have an amazing time after Wednesday at 2pm. I pack my duffle bag, then my mommy picks me up and I go home!!!!!!!! Yay! Then I make my traditional LJ post about things I'm thankful for over sluggish dial-up, help cook, enjoy the warmth of being with my family, see people I rarely see, share stories, eat amazing delicious food, feel like my stomach's going to explode, probably play some Nanosaur 2 (LOL I'm lame......) then curl up in my bed. So hooray.
