One of the best episodes ever! It was so incredible and amazing! And - holy LORD, the second screencap in your post *faints* he is so damn PRETTY! Look at his eyelashes! The second to the last one, the lost expression on his face *sighs* someone should give Ackles an award already! *draws hearts around him*

This season so far has been amazing! And yes, Ackles really pulled out all the stops, and at the same time kept it subtle when it needed to be. Good stuff!

(And personally, I took Castiel's destiny business to mean that Dean couldn't change his past -- no matter what he did back in the 70s, things were always going to end up the same way, with Sam & Dean as hunters, Dean & Castiel working together, blah blah blah. Also, I assumed when Castiel said "they" didn't know what Azazel was up to that he meant the angels, the warriors, didn't know. Just my $.02.)

I'll have to rewatch it - the trouble with capping is that I have to try to concentrate on getting the best images, so sometimes I miss the subtler points. But yes, that makes sense, otherwise why get Dean to change what's happening to Sam if his destiny is fixed.

And the 'they' meaning the angels, that fits with the Bible, where Jesus said he didn't know when the end would be, only God knew.
