Supernatural 3x08 - A Very Supernatural Christmas
My parents have been visiting - they go back today. And I'm all teary eyed and haven't the heart to tell them it's over a TV show and not because they're leaving! OMG, I'm the worst daughter ever.
One of the two things I most wanted this season was flashbacks (the other is bodyswap!), and they were just perfect. The new boy who played wee!Sam was so cute, and played Jared's Sam perfectly (though he wasn't pudgy - maybe Sam just had one pudgy year?). But oh, the bleakness of their room and stolen presents and a gift wrapped in newspaper, and their present day Christmas, eggnog in plastic cups and presents from the petrol station and another dingy motel room. And yet, yet they don't seem to covet the glossy decorations and perfect homes of all the people they were trying to help. THEY JUST WANT EACH OTHER, AND DEAN NOT TO DIE, AND OMG I'M TEARING UP AGAIN. But oh, the sadness of their lives growing up, they really had nothing apart from each other. Oh god, it's one thing to think about it, but seeing it like that. *cries*
The amulet. That Dean never takes off. Could they have given it any more significance? I DON'T THINK SO.
Sam's actually saying that it was Dean's last Christmas, that he'd be dead next year. Just quietly saying it with tears in his eyes that he wouldn't shed. Broke me.
AND AT THE END, THEY JUST KEEP GLANCING ACROSS AT EACH OTHER, NOT LONG ENOUGH TO GET CAUGHT, BUT THEY CAN'T HELP IT. THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH.
