Rec: SGA vid - This Is How It Works by lim

I never used to see the appeal of vids. I watched the occasional one, but that was all. Most of the time I just found them boring. But I've seen a few recently that have gone far beyond what I would have expected was possible in the medium, especially considering the limitations of working with available footage.

Regina Spektor ROCKS!! Check out her song, Fidelity... so amazing! As soon as I saw your subject line, On The Radio popped into my head! :)

Regina's pretty damn awesome. Her stuff is all so versatile. I swear someday I'm going to write that Atlantis plot bunny "Oedipus" inspired...

I haven't heard many of her songs - hackthis introduced me to her a little while back I think. But I have a couple of albums worth of downloads left on a music site I subscribe to, so I think that's what I'll get.

I'll have to make sure I get Oedipus.

The video works well on its own, but if you take it in conjunction with the story, then it really is an emotional ride!

I cannot get the song out of my head. *g*
Do you have any other music by Regina? If you have, would you upload it?

a) I posted something to you today. You should get it next week.

b) I have been talking about Regina for ages; no one ever listens to me. I will make you a zip if you want.

a) Eeeeeeee!!!

b) See comment above, re you introducing me to her music! I was just thinking of emailing you and seeing if I could scrounge some. And I must go back and see what you have on your last music post - I only skimmed it yesterday. So yes please to a zip, if you've got time!

Can you download the video at work (I think it's about 24 MB)? If you can, do! I remember you loved the story, and this is a really fantastic vid.

WOW, HUGE lightning strike REALLY close!!

I'm glad you got to see it, even if only once! Normally once is enough for vids for me, and sometimes that's too much, but I've seen this one um, about six times already!

Did you send something to my popullus address? Because it's not working at the moment (can't find out why). It's been down for two days now, which is really annoying.

Here via friendsfriends. I love this vid so much and I'm so glad to see it getting recced around.

I have the large .mov file as well as the divx file uploaded to yousendit over in my lj rec here

Also, Lim uploaded a streaming version here that may work better for some people.

Ah, wonderful - I was disappointed to have missed out on downloading the larger version.

Would you mind if I add a link to your post in this one?

Feel free to link to my post, no problem *g*.

It was just coincidence that I got the large one at first, all the other links were already dead when I first tried to download it from Lim, but I'm really glad because the quality of that version is phenomenal and it has none of the problems I sometimes have getting divx files to play smoothly on my comp.

Thanks! I've just been watching the .mov version over and over again, and it still hits me each time. Especially the moment when John looks into the camera - you feel just as though you're remembering it from Rodney's point of view, and it's a real punch to the gut.
