For a piece of fiction I'm currently writing that is set at Oxford between October 1999 and June 2002, a couple of questions, please:
Does a student have a different tutor for each paper being taken in a given term?
Does a tutor carry over from one term to another?
Regarding the fine art of pennying: according to Wikipedia's description, "Unlike most drinking games, the rules of pennying are almost never explicitly declared to be in force; rather, by putting oneself in a social situation involving the consumption of alcohol, one is implicitly subjected to the rules should a "Pennying" situation occur."
Later, though, it says this: "Should someone manage to slip a penny into another person's drink after officially announcing pennying will take place on the night, the owner of the drink must completely consume it within a set period of time," etc.
So which is it-- an official announcement or an implicit assumption?
And-- supposing the person who's been pennied doesn't notice, can I assume that others who have are quite vocal about letting him or her know?
Finally, does pennying go on in pubs as well?
Thanks in advance!
