COLORADO WAS AWESOME! (Friday)

Jun 21, 2013 23:24

Woke up in time for another bit of continental breakfast: sausage patty, egg, and a muffin. Yum! Then Joanna and I went to Walgreens for some essentials. I got an awesome water bottle from there too. Only $6.

Came back to Easter and Josh and baby Caroline’s room. I got to play with the baby. Oh, she has the cutest smile! And I got baby pictures to prove it!! Then Josh, Easter, Caroline, Kristin, Ben, and I went to the Ancient Mariner. I had a cheeseburger and a cuke salad. It was a good burger but I was less than thrilled with the salad. Then we did some downtown window shopping again. I’ve seen so many more fun shops. I bought a pashmina and a floofy hat!! (I used both in my wedding ensemble!)

We also took Josh to the arcade, where we played our faves again: the lightning whack-a-light, PacMan Battle Royale, Skeeball and others. We earned 94 tickets as a group, which we traded in for two decks of mini cards (as big as my thumbprint), and two packages of candy cigarettes (with two cigarettes each). There were Avengers on the cover! How could I resist?

After that we came back to the hotel (I was that tired!) so I had a nap and a shower again. Then I finished getting ready for the wedding so we could get there early. While I may have wore my blue dress from Easter & Josh’s wedding and my actually-comfortable, brown, high heeled sandals, I did dress it up with the purple, rose pashmina and my floofy hat. So, I kinda hope the outfit looks a bit different. I also wore my hand-made black/rhinestone and crystal earrings. The necklace was too long and I didn’t have a useable shorter necklace. I made do with another necklace I made. I did my nails in two shades of gray with some glitter over coat. It felt like high school. Then we were off to the ceremony.

Oh, Melissa and John’s wedding was amazing. To put it shortly, it was perfect and perfectly them. It was wonderful, touching, funny, personalized, and a good length. And everyone involved (Mark, Ali, Easter & Eric, Luke, and of course, Melissa and John) did super well during the ceremony. I laughed, I cried, I wished I’d had tissues. To quote one of my Facebook posts: “Melissa and John Henry had the perfect wedding. Like a summer blockbuster, there was laughter, there were tears... Thankfully nothing exploding!! It was an awesome ceremony and dinner and dance!! Yay!”

Then we had drinks and the reception. I took off to get snacks and I ended up taking pictures of all the jewelry I made for the wedding on their respective owners. I had to use Joanna’s camera phone since I forgot mine at the hotel. She was wonderful and sent me the pictures.

The food at the wedding was superb with salmon, chicken, and elk, potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, salad. There was a bit of talking outside and then danced some before hitching a ride back to the hotel with Easter and Josh and Caroline.

More deets about the wedding:

- Thomas (a 6 year old boy) sat by Luke. Considering the way he was then and also at the rehearsal party, I think he has a bit of hero worship for Luke. It was adorable, so adorable in fact that his mom leaned over to Luke and mentioned that they live in California, if Luke ever wanted to come by!

- Baby Caroline was fussy during the speeches (and may have been fussy during the ceremony as well. Easter and didn’t hear as we sat a few rows up (where there was space) and so Easter could get out to do the reading easier.

- Also I think I have an adorable picture of Ben holding Kristin. It’s hard to get them being cute.

- Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of the Madison crew, but I did get a picture of the ladies in blue, which included Easter, me, Melissa’s grandma, Noelle, and another lady whose name I forgot.

- I got to hang out with James and Jamie since they were there. Not nearly enough time... but it was fun.

friends, manitou springs, visit, colorado
