Beltaine
The ritual I used was modified from the hellenic solitary rite By Diane Lynn “Emerald” Vaughn as a base with material from
http://web.eecs.utk.edu/~mclennan/BA/Athena.html and beltaine2007.pdf from site. Before the rite I again washed my altar. This works well for me as it begins to put me into the proper frame of mind for the ritual activity. The ritual was dedicated to Aphrodite as this seemed to me to fit the spirit of Beltaine. I both knelt, sat and stood during this ritual. This seemed to eliminate the problem I have had with my legs falling asleep because I have knelt too long.
The two powers meditation went better this time. As I got further into the ritual, I became more in tune with
the ritual and what I was doing. It got more comfortable. Also, it flowed better as I went. I offered
incense, water and olive oil this time. The different offerings did not seem to change the way the ritual felt
to me. In the past I have only offered water and incense (to the fire, as the fire did not like water as an
offering). The olive oil will remain in the bowl on my altar until it evaporates, or the cats decide it is
drinkable, which ever comes first.
The omen was Ehwaz, Manaz and Hagalaz. This seems to me to be a positive omen. This is the area I think I need to work at the most. I have difficulty knowing if an omen is positive or negative and interpeting the omen. I need to work on my rune readings.
