purple soup!
thebroomecloset and i made garbure tonight... with red cabbage. which means our soup turned out a very striking shade of purple. (picture tomorrow - i'm too lazytired to dig out a camera right now.)
i love this soup recipe - it's a fabulous way to use up cabbage when i don't have the energy to make gołąbki. and very flexible - we had a 2lb cabbage, so we doubled the cabbage and threw in a couple more small potatoes, but kept the rest of the ingredients as written. still delicious!
the best part is, we have another head of red cabbage. i'm seriously thinking we should get more potatoes and another batch of ham hocks and do it again! thank goodness (actually, thank skytomm and tatooedlady) for the chest freezer in the basement...
