Sho and Tokyo dialect - to be included in Sapporo Afterword???

I picked up on Sho's habit/penchant of conjugating his sentence endings with the 'ee' vocalisations instead of the 'ai' or 'oi'. I don't if any of you realise this but out of the five Sho does this the most, then Jun. The others are somewhere in the middle (I suspect Nino's one of those pedantic anal people when it comes to language) but Aiba doesn't do it as much as Ohno, and I'm guessing it's mainly because Aiba's not exactly from Tokyo. But Aiba would be influenced by the rest, definitely. I wonder if Aiba speaks Chikura-ben.

On the other hand, Pedantic Nino does have his moments when he uses 'ttsu' to contract 'tsutte', which is already the modification of the '-ru' stem.

Anyway for the 'ee' stuff. Sho does it the most. And that's why I thought he'd be the one to be really out of place in a Hokkaido locality XD It's like, if he goes to the convenience store people would immediately be able to tell he's from Tokyo.

I heard - I never personally been there - that Hokkaido-ben is not really different tonally from Standard Japanese. Instead, the words used are different, with 'a lot of alternatives to desu'. There are influences from Tohoku-ben, so you'd be able to hear 'dabe sa' in Hokkaido (versus 'deshou ne') and 'ii dabe'. Heh.

There are other things like 'menkoi' meaning cute and 'kowai' meaning tired in Hokkaido-ben, and I think it's quite fascinating. :P Another thing I find fascinating is how the word for 'frog' actually differs from place to place. WHY THE FROG?! XD What's so special about the frog? It's 'bikki' in Miyagi-ben and 'ango' in Chikura-ben (Chiba). There are others.

Hm.

Personally I like to change the '-ru' stem to '-n', and I constantly say 'dekinno' instead of 'dekiru no' because of habit. I'm lazy, maybe. But (haha) it may be because of Arashi. It may also be because of Juri. (Ruka!!! XD)

I say 'sugee' a lot because 'sugoi' doesn't give me the tension (haha tension), but I don't say 'yabee' or 'umee' often. I do say 'yabee' at times, but 'yabai' is more common for me. What else? I don't say 'chigee' at all - oh, but if you want to talk about masculine forms, I am guilty of saying 'kutte' instead of 'tabete'. I do think I should change, really. XD

I need to go unko.

And by the way...

I officially will not be able to get this. Ah well. I got it last year when Juri was on it, and it's actually a very good magazine. I never buy anything that doesn't give me news and analysis, so I virtually don't touch Popolo and Potato and Duet and Myojo and whatnot. I have a lot of More and Nonno though. That reminds me, I need to get More July. Juri's in it. I LOVE HER OUTFIT. Head over to juri_ueno  to see the extra, extra cute sailor thingy she's wearing. ♥♥♥
