He's trying to keep up a happy face, but the loss of his best friend and the thoughts that loss has stirred up have put him in a really downer of a mood. [Given that Johan, Kay, and Kaito operated together as the unstoppable trio of doom, she's assuming that the other two were just as determined to keep tabs on Team Rocket as Kaito had been when he and Heather had talked about both going back.]

He's an old dude who smells like fish. Despite that, he's pretty decent. [She says it with... a certain kind of affection that doesn't really enter her voice when she talks about anybody else. Douglas is special. Even if he had inadvertently caused the near-apocalypse, he'd also been willing to face it with her to the end.] I... wonder how he's doing sometimes. [He wasn't exactly the... happiest person. And he didn't have anyone else.]

Heh, probably not. If anything, he seemed more like a dog person. [Though how anyone could remain a dog person after experiencing a dog-phobic's Otherworld (like Douglas had) was anybody's guess.]
