Summary: They worked with the worst part of life every day.
At the end of the day, there was one mood that Elliot and George would almost always feel: dread.
They feel dread for many reasons. The first and foremost is because their work shows them the ugliest side of life: death. Even living victims have died, but on the inside- and they may or may not be reborn. Every day they see it.
When they get home, they have to convince each other that they’re still there. Tender kisses, warm embraces, which for other couples would be taken for granted, become anchors, tethering them together. They become lighthouses: a light for the other to come to- but first they have to make their way through the long darkness. But the end result is always worth it. They succeed in bringing each other out of the gloom. Their love was what drove them.
