"DOOOOCTOOOOOR!"
You'll hear him before you see him. A more than slightly worried shout echoing down the stairs, well in advance of his arrival.
And then Jack comes rocketing down the stairs, almost slamming into the wall as he turns the corner, and runs into the lobby of the inn, just managing to skid to a halt before slamming into a table

Of course, anyone yelling doctor like that is bound to catch anyone with a PhD's attention.
"I'm a doctor!" He bounces to his feet, folders in a mess on the floor. Pout. Totally not cool, but then he looks up and notices the seriousness of this man's face and quickly focuses in on him. "What happened?"
Reply
"Sorry. I meant someone specific, not you. I'm just..." He runs a hand through his hair distractedly and looks around the room. The Doctor's got to be around somewhere. There's been some version of him in here almost constantly since Jack got here.

"Emergency is a mild term," he growls. "My friend's supposed to be saving the world, and instead, she's sick in my room coughing up blood."
Yeah, sure, he could drag an actual medical doctor up there, but if he's like most people around here, he's only from the 21st century, and they don't have the technology to fix Martha fast enough to make Jack happy. Of course, he'd only be happy with an instant cure, all things considered...

Do not lose your cool just because men are scary when they're angry. ...Did I seriously just think that? Focus
It's the man's words that make him frown, worried already for someone he doesn't even know. It's just a... habit of his. Comes with being a doctor and knowing the scary, warning signs. Coughing up blood tends to be one of those.
"I'm not the Doctor, but I can help. At least until you find the real deal."

"Alright, fine," he says, mostly because he promised Martha he'd be back in two minutes. "She's upstairs. Also, when are you from?"
This is a question you can only expect of a time traveller.

Luckily, JD has been in the Inn for so long that he doesn't get weirded out by that question.
He follows Jack up the stairs, because it's obvious that this guy is near panic and that's the last thing anyone needs.
"Anything else you can tell me? Places she's been, how long it's been going on? Basics. While we're on our way. It'd help me figure it out more quickly."
Reply
He rubs at his forehead, not turning to look at JD as he speaks. "She's been travelling around the world. It's a long story, and I don't know all of it, because she can't really tell me, but she's been walking, and she hasn't been immunized against practically anything. I think she mentioned being in South America last."

When they stop just outside the door, JD reaches out to grab Jack's arm. Just long enough to ask one last question that is important for him.
"What's her name?"
Reply
"Martha Jones," he says softly, lips flickering into a vague, fond smile. "And I'm Jack Harkness, if you were wondering."
For once, a simple introduction is not flirtation. Well. As little as it can be, for Jack.

JD thinks on doctor-gloves. Even if the Inn will probably stop any transmission of tropical diseases, it helps him get down to business.
"Go on in before me. So I don't freak her out by being a... y'know, stranger."

He sits down on the edge of the bed and smiles at Martha, calm again to all outward appearances. He's good at that, as long as you don't look him in the eyes. "Hey. I brought you a doctor, since a certain Time Lord's apparently missing in action at the moment."
Reply
"Hi. I'm JD." He's impressed with Jack's ability to look so calm now. JD only gets calm like that when he throws himself into doctoring, which is what he's doing now.
JD presses his fingertips to her neck, checking her pulse, going through the basic steps. "Is there any disorders, any allergies that you have that I should be aware of, Martha?"
She shivers, swallows, focus.
"Martha?"
She shakes her head, biting her lip to try to keep from coughing which is just useless at this point ( ... )

He rubs at the back of Martha's neck, otherwise trying to stay out of JD's way. After a moment, he says with a tiny quirk of a smile, "I can see why April likes you so much." Loves him enough that she refused to make out with Jack, which in Jack's book is huge.

He smiles, brightly, at the mention of his wife's name. It's really instinct at this point. "You know April?"
And then he goes back to putting the IV in. He can focus and listen at the same time. Really.
Martha, for her part, just moans softly. The fever isn't rising any more, which is good, but it's still getting difficult to form coherent thought or to pay attention.
Reply
He turns his attention back to Martha as she moans, and grimaces a little, kissing her temple. "It's alright, I'm right here. You're gonna be okay."
