The Dark He Knows Well

Outside, there is a KGB agent leaning against the porch. Molokov doesn't really remember a porch being there before, but this is the Inn, after all. Stranger things have happened, and will no doubt continue to happen. He wanted to lean against a porch anyway, so it's all just as well ( Read more... )

Rose has been in a pretty good mood lately. She's been here for... well, quite a while, for her, when she generally only stays a few days. But she can't bring herself to leave, even if she knows the Doctor's coming back for them. For her.

But she's in a good mood and wants to look at the stars again, the one that the Doctor - the old one, the one she first travelled with and first fell in love with - pointed out. Alien to her, alien to him, alien to everyone here.

She might not notice Sascha at first, staring up at the stars with a little thoughtful smile on her face.

Something makes Molokov glance over. "Hello, Rose."

He manages a smile for her. "I haven't seen you in awhile." She looks happier than the last few times he's seen her, which is good. He doesn't need to worry nearly so much about her.

Rose smiles wider when she hears him, and looks over at him. "I've been keeping out of trouble is all," she teases. More like she's been keeping Jack's bed warm. But that's okay. "How are you, though? I've missed you."

"Trouble. Why do I have a hard time believing that," he teases back. "I've been keeping out of trouble, myself."

It's not really a lie, just a creative interpretation of the truth.

"Good boy." She moves over to him and gives him a bit of a hug, making sure not to jostle his tea.

She sighs a bit. "I should go soon. I've been gone too long."

He hugs her carefully. He's worried about her again, but there's little he can do about that.

"Is the door there for you already?"

Rose blinks a little, confused. "It's always been there," she says. "Where would it have gone?"

"Not for me," he says quietly.

And that can't be fun. Even if he wanted to go home, he couldn't. Rose bites her lip and slips her hand over one of his.

There's really nothing to say. She can't fix it.
