JD just talked to Ben, and Ben thinks he should leave, but not without JD, because they entered together and if he leaves without JD... then he'll just get stuck there waiting for JD anyway, while lot's of shit happens at the Inn. So JD's tapping the top of a table with a pen and trying to convince himself it's what should happen ( Read more... )

Speaking of George, she isn't too far away, leaning against a wall with her eyes closed as she listens to Sue's music. She hasn't taken notice of Juliet yet but only b ecause her eyes are closed.

She remembers Sue from their brief meeting on movie night, how she'd wanted to come down here and play the piano and now George wished she had. The music made her smile, made her heart flutter much like.....Other things.

Eyes crack open for a brief moment ans she spots Juliet and a laugh ensues. Of course the other girl would be here.

Armed with a smile and a spring in her step she trots over to the girl, sitting herself beside the other. "We've got to stop meeting like this," she whispers with a laugh. "People'll start to talk."

Juliet almost jumps when George speaks. She hadn't been expecting anyone. Certainly not George, although, really... she should have known. They had a habit of running into each other.

Juliet isn't in any hurry to break that habit.

She smiles when she manages to gather her senses back together.

"People will talk? Well, we simply cannot have that."

She hasn't meant to surprise the girl but she finds herself smiling all the same. Juliet is rather cute when she's startled.

"Then again," she replies, laughing a bit. "This is the Inn, there's gotta be stuff that's more interesting than us around for people to talk about."

Her fingers twitch slightly as the music plays on, as if she wants to play herself, but it's been years since George touched a piano. "I met her," she whispers then. "She came down when they had the movie night thing. Nice, I think we had popcorn."

"I would hope so. Or else, everyone leads very boring lives, which never seems to be the case here." Juliet smiles a little, looking back into the fire. "Not for anyone."

At the whisper, Juliet's gaze turns up to the piano too. "Really? It sounds so very pretty." She glances at George's fingers with a curious expression. "Why are they moving like that?"

"Here? Pfft, the day that something boring happens in the Inn is gonna be the day that....I don't even know since just about everything happens around here anyway."

There's a slightly embarrassed grin before she she curls her fingers into light fists. "My mom made me take piano lessons when I was younger. Said it was one of the things that every little girl should do. I said it was complete shit and that I hated her. Still, did it for about four years before I finally got to quit."

She turns to focus on Juliet then. "How about you? Ever learned how to play anything?"

"A... piano? Is that what it's called?" Juliet shakes her head at George with a small smile. "I'd never seen one until I entered the Inn. I think I would have liked to learn some kind of musical instrument, but all my education centered around subjects that would help me be married off to the best suitor."

"Oh, right." She's silent for a second, thinking of what she's about to say. "I guess, if you really wanted, I could teach you what I remember." Funny that she's doing this, she hated teaching people, she would get so frustrated with people but Juliet was different, she could sit and wait 'til the other girl would get it, of that she was sure.

"Really?" Juliet smiles, hopefully, looking at George. "If you don't enjoy the piano at all, I wouldn't ask you to do that for me though. I would hate to make you do something you didn't enjoy."

"I didn't like it 'cause I was little and stupid," George explains with a grin. "Besides, since you're around while I'm doing it, I'm sure I won't hate it that much."

Juliet almost blushes, but... thankfully, doesn't.

"Thank you so much!" She smiles up at George. "Really. It will mean so much to me to learn something I actually want to learn for a change."

"I bet," she replies with a tinge of sympathy in her voice. "What all did they teach you exactly? I mean I've got a vague idea from history classes and stuff but who needs classes when you can have a first hand account, right?"

Juliet smiles a little.

"To read and to write. Most girls my age did not recieve that much of an education even. They learned how to take care of the home, how to be a proper woman, but my father allowed me to learn more about culture and the arts, to read great works of literature. In that way, I was very lucky."

She nods, shifting around slightly so she can cross her legs and lean agains tthe arm of the couch. "Yeah, that's what I'd figured. What did you, y'know, want to learn? I mean, I don't think I could teach you a bunch of it but hey, maybe there's something we could learn together." A slightly crooked smile.

It would e fun to learn with Juliet, to watch her puzzle over something until she finally understands it and then see the delight that she would hace once she's got it right.

Or something like that. Whatever.

"Oh! I would not know where to begin." Juliet admits, smiling shyly. "I wanted to learn nearly everything. I wanted so very much to see the world, to experience different cultures, and to learn their language and their way of life. I wanted so very much, but never actually did anything about it."

"So," she starts. "Why not start now? What's stopping you? It's not like you have any obligations to deal with now, right?"

"I just never thought of it. It's not that anything was stopping me, it's just I hadn't even considered doing any of that. When you're dead, you should be dead... or so I thought for such a long time."
