Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington let out his best wallowing-in-self-pity sigh. He had been noncorporeal for so very many months, and he was truly starting to doubt that he would ever live again. He wondered briefly what that would mean for him and Zach, but quickly banished the thought. It wasn't worth brooding over, at least not yet. He knew the answer had to be right under his nose, he was just missing something. He floated past his mirror, looking at his pajama-clad reflection with another sigh, and drifted right through the door and down the stairs.
He missed Sir Cai dogging his steps as well. Who'd have thought that a prickly, demanding, lovestruck little porcupine could become so a part of one's heart? Nick missed petting Sir Cai's charm-dulled quills and watching him moon over Bea.
Rounding the corner toward the kitchen, Nick decided to see if Molly was about and not busy. She was always wonderful for a conversation, and he needed cheering up right now.
