The Last Week

Because this entry is so long, I've split it up into two parts. You don't really need to read the first one. It's long, and it's just like a little diary for me to look back on. You can if you want to, I guess. But the part of this entry you are actually supposed to read is the latter part. It's the update about what's been going though my head the last few days, and then a little part at the end about someone being different. It's not too long.

Well, the last week. The last week, the last week, the last week. Hmmm.

Monday = It Begins.

Dress rehearsal for Alice, which went on Tuesday. I don't remember too much about Monday. It wasn't too bad, but we worked very, very hard. And oh yea, Matt BROKE HIS ANKLE. In 3 places. He needed 2 pins and a plate. Upon finding out, everyone in Alice screamed a bit. Matt was the catepillar, a big part. This was a problem. He did it playing Ultimate Frisbee, and most of us just thought he sprained it and would be fine. Wrong. After that there was a chance of Ultimate being banned, but I don't think they're gonna attempt that. After camp, a bunch of us went to Kim's house and chilled.

Tuesday = "Keep your head on straight..."

Little Syd (Matt's little sister) learned the part of the catepillar. In ONE DAY. Alice and Jeremy performed. That sounds like people, but it's actually 2 different shows. We both were fantabulous. I was so proud of Little Syd. She's incredibly brave.

Wednesday = AHHHHHHHHHH.

This was one of the most draining mornings I have ever experienced. I woke up, walked out of bed and the phone rang (really). It was my mother who was yelling her brains out at me. After that whole scenario was over with and I got to the Y: I walked in, was there pretty much 30 seconds before someone grabbed me and said "Get your hair and make-up done. You're performing Alice. Now." I'd known we were performing Alice but no idea it was that quick! After I did all of of that and got my mike on, I asked a counselor when curtain opened, and she said in 5 minutes. Ahh. We had our energy circle, and they told us to go to places, but they lied. We were supposed to be on stage. So we all pretty much had to walk directly from the make-up room onto the stage. People missed their cues, it was bad. No warning at all.

Then we had dress rehearsal for Guys and Dolls, practicing for the first time with our minks. The mink part went a little wacky, but the rest of it was good.

Thursday = "Let's Get On With the Show!"

Show day. It was fabulous, if I do say so myself. And lot of fun. Backstage Ratscrew(Ratsgru?)ing, the return of the aforementioned broken Matt in a wheelchair! Good stuff. Actually, some not good stuff, too. Like the worst screaming from Heather I've ever gotten, and ever hope to get in the future. I was basically told (not just me, a few others, too) that I didn't get good parts because I talk a lot. Which really surprised me, honestly. Not because I don't talk, because I do talk too much, but because I don't talk a lot in comparison to the people around me. But the show was loverly, but unfortunately I had to skip an outing to Applebee's, cuz Momma said no. Oh yea, and Lisa and Pinkar were there to say hello, and it was really nice to see them.

Friday = "Seasons of love.."

Last day of Session 1. There were tears. The majority of kids I know are staying, a few kids are going that I wanted to stay. Meh. After that, some good times at Mal's with Sarah, and later Mike and Justin.

Tonight is a pediatrist appointment, and then babysitting city! w00t!

So, this week was a good week for me, I think. Camp is very draining, physically and emotionally, but I think it's some of the most fun a person can have. The most important things I've learned about myself have been at camp. And recently, I've been thinking about what happens when I leave. I'm a little bit afraid that I won't be able to look back and remember what it was like. How much fun we had. The little things we did. I know that sounds stupid, but it's true. About a week ago, we were all in lunch, and Mike and Dan did there little Oncenterstage rap thing. Matt was beatboxing, and all of a sudden the rest of the table joined in with a beat simultaneously, in true theater camp fashion. It was one of the coolest things ever. As we were walking out of lunch, I thought to myself "That is the stuff. Little stuff like that. But what happens if later when I'm in school, I look back on theater camp, and I fail to recall the things like that?" Only time will tell I guess, but I never want to forget.

I guess right now, I'm just concerned with living it up and having fun at camp. That's all I really need right now. More than ever now, since I've learned that next session is gonna be a bumpy one. Fasten your seatbelts, kiddies.

And it appears I'm not the only person around here who is changing. Recently, I've been hearing some stuff about someone I thought I knew very well. Some stuff that's is a little surprising, if I'm being honest. Bleh. Boo for not knowing what to think, and boo for icky situations. Well, whatever. I guess it's not my business, anyway. And people change, right? Right.
