Note: If you don't watch QAF, don't read this. You will not understand. Or if you DO watch, and you don't want to be spoiled for when you finally get to watch (ie: If your name is Amanda)
OMG. Lordy, lordy.
I just watched the Season Finale of Queer as Folk: Season 4.
Wow. It just.. wow. I was afraid there would be some stuff that would make me not too happy, but there wasn't much really. There was a few things left up in the air. I teared at least 15 times, and cried actual tears about 5. This continues to be the only show that can make me cry. I know many people who are pissy because the show hasn't done what they expected it to do, or more importantly what they wanted it to do.. It didn't do what I expected/wanted it to do either, but I think that's the nature of the show, as it is the nature of life. I have nothing but praises for this show, and that is so, so, SO weird coming from me, because I am a BITCH of a critic. A few thoughts:
*I don't understand how this show winded up with what may possibly be the most brilliant cast on television. Everyone is just so talented. Gale Harold is nothing short of incredible. He is one of the most impressive actors I've seen in a long time. Well, him along with his castmates, it's hard to compare them, but outside this show: definitely. Same with Hal Sparks. He is the living definition of a Renaissance (spelled right, of course) Man. Oh crap. Is there anything he can't do? Anything he can't do insanely well? And of course, this passage would be incomplete without note of Sharon Gless, Peter Paige, Randy Harrison and the other cast members. Fucking Amazing.
*Speaking of Randy Harrison, actually, normally Justin bothers me a bit, because being a B/Mer, I find him to be in the way. But I forgot all of that today. Justin was being smart and making good choices. Randy lit up the screen. He has a very bright face. Very talented.
*I was kind of confused with Michael and Ben's marriage. Are they married? Are they not married? I just pretty much got they're not LEGALLY married, but they're... um... mentally married?
*Ted and Emmett: Yes. Please let them get back together? Speaking of Emmett, I was watching today, and I realized what a brave character he is. He is just so, so brave. It's very admirable. The meeting in front of the cows? Yea, that was amusing.
*Gale Harold, oh Gale Harold. You are so cool. Anyway, his delivery of the line "It gave me time to think about some things" totally clashed with me. It actually made me sit back and go.. "WHOA." I understand the motivation behind it, but I would've done it differently.
*One of my favorite parts was when Debbie was cursing out our president. She spoke of how she would not stop until same sex marriages were allowed. I love when she called him all those bad names. I was like HELL YES! THERE'S THE KICK IN THE ASS WE ALL NEED! In fact, I had such a complete look of overjoy on my face. There's only been one other time in my life where I distincly remember that happening to me before and that was when we sang through Children of Eden for the first time and got it all right. I'm sure it's happened one other time, I just can't remember when. Possibly watching this show. But yes, all teary eyed, and huge face of overjoy.
*I yelled at myself for silent-sobbing during the show and called myself a loser. Out loud. Swear to God.
*CowLip was heavy on the jokes:
"It hurts like a motherfucker"
*dialouge*
"... did I mention it hurts like a motherfucker?"
*dialouge*
"... seriously, I MUST'VE mentioned in hurts like a motherfucker."
Predictions for next season:
I predict it'll start off with Justin in CA calling or somehow communicating with Brian. That or home visiting. Brian will be his normal Sex god self. Michael and Ben happy married-but-not-married. Debbie on a political warpath for Bush's ass. Mel and Linds living apart but missing each other.
Fun times. I am emotionally wiped.
And feeling really inspired. Empowered. Man, I'm cool.
