well, I threw my back out on Sunday, or something like that at least. We had a rugby tournament, and all i did was plant my foot to get into a good ruck possition, and my lower back shot into pain. good lord. I waddled - quite humourously I imagine - away from the actual action to prevent becoming part of the action, and was told to take a knee then subbed out.
our team medic tried to stretch me out, which helped but hurt. eventually I tracked down two chiro's and one did deep tissue on my ciatic nerve on the right side, then the other decided to turn me into a pretzel and crack me. ugh.
the deep tissue made me scream like a girl. that hurt like a [censored epiteth]. though, my friend vera seemed to enjoy watching me squirm and cuss, and scream.... :)
the quote of the day though is when the 2nd chiro put me on my back pulled my knee up to my chest and said, " this is going to hurt. let go of my leg. [he walked up to my side, and I was bracing with his upper thigh in my left hand]".
i did feel a little better after they were done though....I went out later that night and another friend of mine worked the other side, in a bar no less, and made me cry. ciatic nerves are really, really painful.
when that first chiro was digging his elbow into my ass for the third time and leaning on it, it occured to me that the esquisite sort of pain that I felt can most accurately be compared to those first couple of pricks from a tattoo needle b/f everything else kicks in and the artist moves away from that really sore spot. [if you have ink, you know what I'm talking about].
except this didn't go away, move, or lessen. it just kept going, and going, and going much like the enegizer bunny. [ha].
anyway, now i have to try and make an appointment with the chiro I used a year or so ago when I pinched my ciatic nerve the first time...which funny enough was right after I broke my nose in rugby. ..that was a good summer....i couldn't breathe, i couldn't walk, and I had a TON of medical bills. oh well, such it is I suppose.
the tourney was fun though - all in all. I played the motley b side though which wasn't bad, but they ran us up against college teams who aren't a challenge and who we can't justifiably loose to. needless to say we won all four of our games. go us.
