Just a random thought i had a few days ago. When you think... you think to yourself or use logic to get answers in English... or otherwise your first language. The answer is 'Yes'. All that sepparates us from the other species of animals is our ability to use symbols to represent abstract thoughts and feelings. Lets use a simple example. The number four. "4" of course means nothing. "four" means nothing. "4", "four","四", "τέσσερα" all essentially mean nothing. They are tools which we use to symbolize an idea. Our ability to do this is the sole thing which makes us intelligent beings.

The way you used the word "human" was interesting as well as you were right. A human being can not develop outside of society. A man who managed to survive through adulthood without human contact and socialization is not an actual human being but merely a homosapien. So if you were wondering, the answer is YES.... ones vocabulary is DIRECTLY linked to his intelligence and ability to form more complex thoughts.

Raised apart from humans or even animals... yes, one would simply.... function. Like a roach or mouse, he would only be driven to function. This means 1. staying alive in order to continue to function 2. eating, sleeping and all that other crap 3. and maybe low level psychological needs like playing. That's it. Nope! Not even sex. Anyway. I've gone on enough.... damn these topics. I love them so. Don't force me to type so much ever again :-P
