Also on the agenda... some political stuff.

So... a while back, I had said I could possibly lean towards Obama. After reading and listening some more... I was having doubts. Then he picked Biden, and that tipped the scales of FAIL too far in the opposite direction. I loathe Joe Biden.

One of the reasons why? I've spoken on the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 on here before. Most people seem to think it had something to do with banning 'machineguns' or something like that. Incorrect. Machineguns, while not illegal, have been very heavily restricted since the 1930's. THIS bill had to do with banning weapons that had certain, largely cosmetic features. That's right, it banned guns that LOOKED scary(AK's, M16's, etc.), but which are really far less deadly than your average hunting rifle. This bill lasted 10 years, and made it really suck to be a gun owner.

Who was one of the people behind this bill? Why, Mr. Joe Biden himself.

Yeah. I'm not about to vote someone into office who pissed on the constitution and raped gun owners on that level. Biden can kiss my ass.

As for McCain's pick of Sarah Palin.... honestly, just as with McCain, there's a lot I disagree with her on, but I find her much more palatable than Biden. Why? BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T SPEND 10 YEARS RAPING THE CONSTITUTION.

Anyway...

This whole run up to the elections has honestly pissed me off. For once, I'd like to be able to have a candidate appear that I genuinely LIKE and can agree with on most issues. I'm tired of having to weigh the candidates based on which one will rape my rights less. Why is it so hard to produce a candidate that believes in the ENTIRE Constitution, and LEAVING PEOPLE THE HELL ALONE?

Oh wait... his name was Ron Paul.(Abortion issues aside)

Apparently running on a platform of upholding the Constitution, not getting involved in every squabble in every third world country, and leaving American citizens the hell alone is a poor way to get elected, but a great way to attract ridicule.

Aside from the abortion issue, the only other issue I disagreed with Paul on was the Iraq War(he favored an immediate retreat)... but that whole issue is moot, now that the Iraqi government has basically said; 'WE GOT THIS. GO HOME NOW.' Regardless of whether or not a candidate feels we should stay until the job's done or bring the troops home, our troops are going to be coming home anyway. It's over; we won.

And while on the subject of the Iraq War... there is one thing that's been bothering me. A while back, there was a big flap over Bush's plan for a 'troop surge.' A plan to send more troops to Iraq to reinforce ongoing efforts there. Critics shit all over the plan, those against the war were annoyed at the idea of sending MORE SOLDIERS, and a lot of venom was spit Bush's way.

Well, guess what? All evidence points to the fact that the surge WORKED. The biggest piece of evidence is the fact that the Iraqis feel confident enough to ask us to leave and let them handle things.

Has the media mentioned this? Has any gratitude been given? No. In typical American Media fashion, once it was realized that the OH SO UNPOPULAR PLAN actually worked... well, the outlets all dropped the issue and moved on, pretending it never happened, rather than admit they were wrong.

I hate Bush as much as anyone, but I still believe in giving credit where credit is due. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes.

It's worth noting that Obama voted AGAINST the troop surge that has pretty much become the biggest deciding factor in bringing our troops home. Good job, buddy.

Soooo..... I honestly don't know what I'm going to do this November. I just don't see a President in Obama. I don't have faith in him, nor do I think he can do the job. Maybe if he spent less time making promises, and more time explaining HOW HOW HOW he plans to get these amazing things done, I'd feel differently. Because even if I disagree on some key issues with a candidate, I have to vote for the one that I think can handle the job and get shit done. Who do I think that candidate is? Not Obama The Empty Optimist.

I get that McCain and Palin are pro-life, and that, amongst other things bothers me, but... and I really hate to say it... when it comes down to dozens of other issues at hand, such as foreign policy and a stance on terrorism... I gotta say, abortion tends to fade in its level of importance. We can deal with that when the time comes, and if the Democratic Majority on Capitol Hill can manage to keep their seats, then McCain/Palin won't be able to fuck things up much in that regard anyway.

So yeah... my choices this November, as I see them now, in no particular order, are:

1.) Vote McCain/Palin
2.) Write in Ron Paul
3.) Write in Stephen Colbert 8D
4.) Stay home and marvel at how retarded this country has become.
