I love it when people ask you what you did tonight, just so you can ask them what they did in return. Becuase you know they have some awesome fucking story they can't wait to tell you. Fuck them.
saw BEN FOLDS tonight. amazing. simply amazing. I'm trying to write this but someone keeps talking to me online. I'd wish they'd stop for a few minutes.
Outside of the theatre, which was beautiful by the way, we waited for an hour or so to see if Mr. Folds would come out. He didn't come out, but we did have the horrible fate of viewing a homeless man getting brutally beat up by another homeless man. He claimed he touched his mother.
This may sound funny, but it wasn't. At all. It was sad and disturbing.
I am never one for violence, especially when it's towards people's faces and they lay there defenseless. Both of these men were clearly drunk, except they decided to be drunk differently. One was violent, the other was submissive and took a beating.
He was being beat up right in front of 7-11, at Downtown Crossing, a rather prominent and wealthy area. It was just a sight to see these two poor men fighting desperately as people walked in and out of the store with their Slurpy's, angry that this particualr 7-11 didn't offer a Coke flavored Slurpy.
I'm not any better, I got a Hawaiin Punch slurpy. It was excellent, I'll admit. But just seeing that guy suffering the after effects of this beating with thousands of concert goers not letting him bring down their musical high, it just was something to gaze at and analyze. I wanted to help this homeless man, i felt the need to. I wanted to give him some water, or anything clean himself up.
But I couldn't. I just couldn't. I couldn't get the balls to do something nice, and that says a lot about me and society. It's kind of understood that everyone has their own problems, and they need to deal with them on their own. Especially in a city like Boston.
I kindof fell for that understanding tonight, and didn't do a small act of kindness that would have helped someone a lot.
So anyway, what did you do tonight?
