People really need to be less fixated on the book descriptions. The amount of abuse being heaped on Sophie Skelton because she's not tall enough, has the wrong eye-colour, etc., sickens me and makes me sad for just about every other actor who gets cast going forward, especially the poor sod who's going to have to play William if they get to a season 7-8. Trying to find a clone of Sam Heughan is going to be impossible. What matters the most is that they embody the essence of the character. I don't really give a toss about eye colour or height as long as they become that character, and so far, everyone cast has been great.
I think some of us are defensive about how Sophie was received. But we can all agree that the Outlander Costume, Make up and hair people really bring out the characters in all the actors.
I hear you. I do wonder what he'll look like once he's gone through hair and make up. I too hope they do a great job coloring his hair. It could be bad otherwise. I've been listening to book 8 and how Claire describes John as attractive... David has that at least. LOL
He isn't as short maybe but he is shorter than Sam so I'm okay with that. I think David could do really well.
So many of the actors don't look exactly like the book characters but I still love them.
I still have a different Jamie in my head but Sam is also Jamie to me.
It is true. Like I said the Jamie in my head is not Sam but Sam is a nice Jamie too.
I just can't wait to see David playing the role. I just have this feeling we'll love him.
It is true. In my head Cait isn't Claire either but she really embodies the role like Sam does and I think they were fantastic choices. I feel like the Claire in my head is a bit shorter, curvier and fair of hair but it doesn't bother me at all. I love Cait. She's brilliant.
