I have never consciously seen him in anything but he looks aristocratic and boyishly handsome enough! Bit tall maybe? But then, so is the rest of the cast. It is certainly a great opportunity for him!
It really is an awesome opportunity. I wonder if they'll make him more fair. John is more blonde right? I can see it. I'm more interested to see how Sam and David act together. That will be the best part.
I hope this starts a stream of other characters being cast because there are so many...
Fergus Mr. Willoughby Young Ian Duncan Innes Marsali Joan Young Willie
(Although I did read one bitchy comment on Twitter that "Sam's latest squeeze" had been cast in that role but I am not one to give that much credence.)
I'm very keen to see Fergus and Marsali but I'm anxious about the 'ageing' they'll have to do with the cast they already have. And here's to hoping that Murtagh gets to stick around for a bit.
I'm not going to worry about it. It will either look good or I'll have to pretend they are older than they are. Not too much can be done about it. Thought in all honestly, now Sam & Cait are closer to Jamie & Claire's age than they were before which is kind of a plus and their natural aging will have some effect.
I actually hope Claire's "gray" hair looks more peppered rather than great streaks of gray.
I would love for Murtagh to stick around. One can only hope but if they stick with the story... never know.
Yes, I hope they're sorting out Claire's grey/light streaks because they were rather inconsistent with it in the finale.
I'm more concerned that they'll age them up too much. Film and TV are so often weird about age, casting thirty-year olds as high school students and twenty-five year olds as mothers of four. In this case I'd suspend my disbelief one way rather than the other. My hope is that they are going to rely chiefly on Sam's and Caitriona's acting abilities.
So now I'm wondering about that too. I've seen Starz shows with plausible aging but who knows if that is the same make up artist on Outlander. Doubtful. Hopefully it will be subtle because they don't really need to age much and they have to remember Claire looks remarkably young.
