I made and finished a skirt on saturday, looked very nice and will be spiffy for saturday. Then I went to the fabric store looking for ostritch feathers, and saw that they had more of my dark maroon wool. nifty. i have yet to make clothingout of wool. isn't it itchy?

Depends on the wool, and the person. Some people are a lot more sensitive to wool than others, and some wools are rougher and itchier. Some wools are very fine, though -- both thin and smooth, and not terribly itchy except to those who are strongly sensitive to it. Suit-grade wool is really nice stuff.

And wool breathes adequately: if it isn't really heavy, it usually isn't horribly hot. My grey doublet is wool, and is fine for any non-hot weather...

Yep -- fencing in the morning and early afternoon, court in the mid-to-late afternoon. Dayboard provided by my lady wife, who is (true to form) producing something more like a small feast than the typical bread-and-cheese dayboard...
