jesus the ubermensch? - doubt this will be too much of a spoiler, but if you're paranoid about movies being ruined, then read no more. anyone notice the intense jesus allusions in superman returns? it's actually almost impossible not to notice..."does the world need a saviour?" the film muses early on...then to superman hearing "everything" - and

However, it's just nice for people to cheer for somebody who is just "good". Athletes? Doped up. Musicians? Other drugs, violence, a host of other problems (actually athletes too)...all cuz well, lets face it, they're human.
Superman is inhuman, hence he can be completely good. He's pretty damn near perfect. Which though, is why superman is more compelling when he's clark. Cuz that's who we can relate to. Can't talk to girls, bumbling and akward, lacks confidence...
I find it kinda funny how when I watch superman movies (or lois and clark, or smallville), the instances when clark tries to get the girl, seem as important (or more) than the times he has to save the world. With the saving the world, you know he'll find a way, cuz he's not human, with the girls, he's human, so he could completely !@#$ it up.
Which (brutal segway) is why I prefer spidey! Spidey makes me feel good cuz he's pretty dope (superpowers and all), he's saved the world, has a hot gf/wife (in the comic...not that nonesense they put in the movie...although the movie is dope, MJ isn't hot enough), and keeps striving. Yet he always doubts his own self worth. Whether he's helping, whether the world is better for him being in it, if he has the courage to succeed.
I like that if a guy as powerful and awesome as spidey can feel like that, it's ok for me to be a sniveling little wimp. haha
This was actually something i was gonna write in my own journal, but sorry gil, i've decided to instead take over yours. =) When you back? I just got home and settled. Mad stories to trade with ya!
Peace.
